The moon is full at 20 degrees of Scorpio as of 5:42 PM (EST).
Most of us associate Scorpio with the scorpion, that predatory arachnid that stings its foes the way a vengeful Scorp person might exact repayment from someone he feels has wronged him. We equate Scorpio with this kind of sting, with brooding anger and creepy Halloween monsters, and also, weirdly, sex. Scorpio is the sign of the eighth house, the house of all things taboo -- death, sex, and taxes, if you will. It has two rulers: Mars (the traditional ruler) and Pluto (the modern ruler). And this sign isn't only associated with the scorpion. It has three symbols: the scorpion, the eagle, and the phoenix. It's one of the zodiac's most complex signs.
The phoenix is what I'm thinking of today, after such a long, rather trying period of retrogrades. This is a moon that accelerates your transformation, allowing you to rise from wherever you may have fallen lately. Things have been building since the new moon at the end of April, and Mercury stationed direct a week ago. Full moons are a period of culmination, and often a period of release. Anyone who has been through a transformation will tell you they had to let go of something first. Usually it's fear. In my post for the new moon in Taurus, I recommended a prosperity ritual to help you embrace the abundance that Taurus offers. Now it's time to consider what makes you afraid of receiving the things you want. Is it guilt over the idea of having more than others, or a fear of having responsibility, or a fear of failure? This is a good moon for acknowledging your fears and releasing them, if only by writing them down.
The moon tonight is in harmony with its ruler Pluto, aiding our transformation. It also features a grand fire trine between Saturn in Sagittarius, Uranus and Mercury in Aries, and the moon's north node newly in Leo. This is a lucky, supportive aspect, helping us to shed our fears and shine our lights. Saturn trine Uranus says we can structure our lives to include more freedom. The north node in Leo asks us to find the courage to be ourselves, and even to expect applause for it. What would you do if you could do anything? Scorpio, the phoenix, would have you rise to that occasion. Let go of the fears that are weighing you down. Open yourself to the transformation.
