The New Moon was at 1:53 AM EST this morning, at 7 degrees of Capricorn.
As Uranus turned direct this morning at 4:29 am, I woke up from a dream. I was working at an office and I was in a meeting. My boss, a man sitting at the head of the table, kept asking me to do time consuming and inane tasks for which I would not be compensated. To the growing amazement of everyone else in the meeting, I replied to each request with a simple and firm No.
The dream didn't contain any recognizable elements from my real life. It wasn't about a specific workplace, boss, or experience that I've had. There is a theory in dream work that everyone in a dream represents a part of you. According to this theory, I was the boss, I was the employee who wouldn't do anything I didn't want to do, and I was all of the awed coworkers.
Since in reality I am my own boss, I would say this is a very literal dream. I have goals to achieve, and to meet those goals I need to be efficient, cutting out any time-sucks that are damaging my productivity. It's especially important for me to cut anything that I do without the appropriate compensation (emotional, spiritual, or financial). The dream reminded me that I can take charge of my own time. In doing so, I could amaze myself.
The new moon in Capricorn this morning was just a couple of hours before the direct motion of Uranus, which has been retrograde since the end of July. Uranus is often called The Great Awakener. His transits can correspond to lightening-bolt realizations. This morning, The Great Awakener moved direct at 20 Aries in my house of long-term goals, opposite my natal sun, and I had an insight about myself that woke me up.
That this insight was extremely practical I attribute to Capricorn. Capricorn is a practical and ambitious sign. Even Capricorns who claim not to be ambitious definitely have their shit together. They know where they're going and how to get there. Whether or not they seek leadership positions -- and they often do -- they are the bosses of their own lives.
The New Year is a few days away, and Mercury is still retrograde until January 8th. It's not exactly the time to fast forward your self-improvement. But it is an excellent time for insights, reflection, and new resolutions. As you begin another year and reflect on the old one, look for practical insights. Because once you know where you're going, it pays to figure out how you're going to get there.
