The full moon was at 23 degrees Aries, at 12:23 AM on Sunday, October 16.
It's a lazy Sunday, and I'm in the process of recovering from this full moon. It's been an intensely active, emotional few days for me. With the moon in my 11th house of future goals, I've been working nonstop. What's a weekend? That go-go-go energy is still in the air. But now that the moon has entered Taurus, I feel slightly more mellow.
This Aries lunation was a wild one: right next to changemaker Uranus and square Mars and Pluto in Capricorn. The moon at its fullest always opposes the sun, but with this one the opposition created an aspect called a T-square: that red triangle you can see in the chart below. I always think of a T-square as the string of a bow -- pulling back, tightening, tightening -- until it launches something into the empty space of the fourth sign. In this case, that fourth sign is Cancer.
The full moon after every September's Harvest Moon is called the Hunter's Moon. This October it's especially apropos. It's a very Cardinal vibe. The Cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Capricorn, and Cancer) are doers. They initiate, they start things, they lead the charge. They name their prey and they go out to hunt for it. Aries hunts without nuance, chasing down his chosen prey and aiming to kill. Capricorn, just as deadly but always patient, lays a careful trap and waits. Libra abhors violence, but justifies the action -- a girl has to eat, it's only fair -- lets Aries do the actual killing, and then hunts for the most delicious cut of meat at the butcher's. And Cancer goes out fishing for her family's dinner.
Yes, the metaphors are violent; this was a violent moon. Mars, a cool-headed warrior of strategy in Capricorn, is still approaching Pluto, which has been transforming structures in that sign since 2008. Those two, right at the apex of the T-square, are hunting together now. Mars and Pluto as a team provide you with the kind of ruthless energy and vision to go after the big game. The big clients, the big promotion, the big romance, the big decision, the big move -- what will it be for you? Whatever you've been hunting, use that spark of full moon electricity from Uranus the innovator, and the growing power of Mars and Pluto, to go in for the kill. It's the Hunter's Moon. It was fullest at midnight last night, but it will still look quite full in the sky for the next two or three days, reminding you of the mission you're on. And though luna will make its way through Taurus and into Gemini, waning, the T-square will remain. Uranus in Aries opposes Mercury in Libra, and both square Mars and Pluto in Capricorn -- keeping that bow nice and taut through the rest of this week.
