The moon is full on Dec. 13, 2016 at 7:05 pm. This lunation is at 22 Gemini and it's part of a configuration called a Mystic Rectangle.
Tuesday's full moon interacts with some of the major astrological patterns that define late 2016 and 2017. Briefly, these include the Jupiter-Uranus opposition and the Saturn-Uranus trine. Through October, 2017, Jupiter in Libra is in direct opposition with Uranus in Aries. This brings up themes of love and war, self and other, relationships and independence. Oppositions are tense aspects between polarizing energies that require us to integrate the polarities. Meanwhile, Saturn in Sagittarius is making a trine (a harmonious aspect) to Uranus in Aries, promoting a fiery combination of innovation, calculated risk-taking, extreme candor, and putting philosophies into action.
The moon, at 22 Gemini, is in opposition to Saturn in Sagittarius, sextile to Uranus in Aries, and trine Jupiter in Libra. Jupiter is in sextile to Saturn, which trines Uranus, and Uranus is in opposition to Jupiter. All of these aspects create a rare pattern called a Mystic Rectangle. It looks like this:
A Mystic Rectangle is actually a pretty mild aspect pattern. It doesn't have the tense, violent energies of a Grand Cross, the frustration of a T-Square, or the lucky ease of a Grand Trine. What it has instead is a combination of tense and harmonious aspects that produce the potential for a constructive use of the energies at play. Where there is a Mystic Rectangle, there is greater potential to integrate disparate energies into a productive structure.
After all of the volatile energy of the last months, some integration is in order. This full moon may provide you with a new way to think and talk about the disparate energies in your life. Jupiter in Libra is causing some expansion in the Libra house of your chart, while Uranus in Aries is demanding your attention by disrupting the opposite house. Can you grow in a relationship and remain an independent person? What about Saturn in Sagittarius -- how are you maturing in that Sagittarius house of your chart? Where are you solidifying a certain philosophy about life?
The full moon in aspect to Saturn signifies adulthood, growing up, and authority figures. Gemini, the sign of this full moon, is all about communication. The opposite sign of Sagittarius broadly signifies philosophy and higher learning. This could be a time of some solitary thinking and learning, or an adult conversation with someone else. Perhaps that conversation is about a relationship, as Jupiter in Libra asks us to consider others. Some balance is in order at this full moon. It might, at first, be signified by an upset -- sometimes that's the way full moons work. They can be emotional. Eventually, though, the Mystic Rectangle configuration suggests that we will find a way to integrate and re-structure.
